About Dobra pot Institute
Dobra pot Institute is a cultural and sustainable action institute from Brkini. Slovenia, founded in 2015 with the aim to protect and preserve the natural and cultural heritage of the local environment in a fresh and innovative way. The institute organises trainings, workshops, guided tours and other educational activities for the general public and develops programmes for rural youth.
Through its activities, it aims to address the current social challenges of the rural environment and to respond to the needs of the Karst-Brkini region, as well as the wider Slovenian area. It considers heritage to be an extraordinary catalyst towards a sustainable and environmentally friendly way into the future, which is why it focuses its endeavours into projects for the actualisation, popularisation and the ever-more crucial digitisation of cultural heritage.

In 2021, the Institute launched a new mobile app Zapisi spomina (English: Writings of Memory), which is freely available online and allows users to record and thus permanently preserve the oral testimonies of elderly people. For this application, the Institute was awarded a prestigious award by the Council of Europe and the European Commission in 2022 as part of the 'Stories of European Heritage Days' initiative. In 2022, it launched the first ever national campaign "Let's write down memories!", which involved individuals and organisations from all around Slovenia and attracted attention from abroad and the media. In 2022 and 2023, it was involved in the creation of the Duri heritage learning platform, and in 2023 it is upgrading its activities in the Brkini and Karst region by setting up this first online hub that documents the vast natural and cultural lore of the area.
